At BioAcademy, your privacy is important. Below you will find our privacy policy, which covers all personally identifiable data shared through BioAcademy’ websites. Our privacy policy applies to all our websites, which are owned and operated by Biowise and/or its affiliates (collectively, “BioAcademy”).
This privacy policy describes how Biowise collects and uses the personal data you provide, the options, choices, and rights you have in connection with personal data, and our relevant privacy personnel’s contact details.
Our goal is to enable you to properly understand relevant information about your personal data rights and ensure that you feel satisfied that we handle such personal data in a fair and transparent way. Note that you are not obligated to provide us with any personal data by law.

The Service
Biowise initiates and facilitates courses in the biomedical industry to enable professionals in the biomedical community to engage with each other and share innovative new ideas and research.
For simplicity, we will refer to our courses collectively as “courses”. The courses, together with our websites which contain data and registration options for courses will be collectively referred to as “Services”.
Our main and central website is www.bioacademy.co.il (“Website”). If you wish to learn more about a courses or register to a courses, you may click on one of the multiple links that we have on the Website for each individual Courses. Each courses has its own website.
The Website along with all of the individual Courses’s websites are owned and operated by Biowise and together will be collectively referred to as “Websites”. All Websites are subject to the Biowise Terms of Use as well as this privacy policy.
The Personal Data That We Collect
When we initiate a courses, we post relevant information about such courses on our Website, including a link to a separate individualized website of that specific courses. On our Websites, we allow you to contact us via a field that asks for certain personal information such as your name, your email address, as well as an open-text field for your comments and questions.
For your convenience, we have also provided our phone numbers and email addresses. You will also find an option to subscribe to our mailing lists and newsletters. If you wish to do so, we will ask for your email address.
We will keep your personal data in a database on our secured servers.
If you want to register for a Courses, you need to click on the link for the individualized website of this specific Courses. On the specific Courses website, you can ask to be kept updated with information about the Courses through a field called “Keep Me Updated”.
When registering for a c, we will ask you to provide relevant information such as your name, your phone number(s), your email address and your physical address (city, country, etc.). We may also ask how you learned about the Courses.
We will ask you to submit your credit card number as well as your name, your address, your email address, and any other relevant information we need in accordance with applicable laws, to pay for your participation in a Courses. After completing the payment process, you will receive an invoice and further information about the Courses.
Payment Processors
Biowise uses third-party payment processing services as follows: (a) Cardcom; and (b) ProMarketing Wizard ("Processing Services"). The Processing Services assist Biowise in securely processing your personally identifiable credit card payment data.
The Processing Services usage of your personal data is governed by their own respective privacy policies. The Processing Services have committed that they will comply with all necessary security standards. Please take the time to review the relevant Processing Service's privacy policy and make sure that you are comfortable with its terms.
Social Media
We promote Courseses or other events using social media platforms (“Social Media”). Your communication with us via Social Media, and any data that you provide in connection with Social Media, are often publicly viewable outside our domain. If you do not wish for this data to be disclosed, we advise you not to use Social Media in conjunction with our Services.
Social Media may collect your IP address, the website pages (URLs) that you are visiting on, as well as set cookies to enable Social Media’s features to function properly. The Social Media usage of your personal data is governed by the Social Media own respective privacy policy. We are not responsible for any use, misuse or unlawful use of the identifiable data that you choose to submit in Social Media.
What Do We Do with Personal Data and With Whom Do We Share It?
We use personal data to provide individuals with information about, or to register for, our Courseses. We process this personal data to improve our browsers and attendees experience, and to protect our Websites and Services from misuse and law violations. As such, we process your personal data to –
- provide updates and information about our upcoming Courseses;
- identify potential cases of abuse of the system, prevent cyber-attacks, prevent fraud, and identity theft;
- maintain and continue to improve the functionality of our Websites and Services;
- use personal data such as your email address to send out data relating to specific Courseses, for example, sending you a personal invoice for your payment and relevant information about your participation in the Courses for which you registered and paid.
In addition, as part of our Services, when you visit our Websites and you join our mailing lists and newsletters, or register for a Courses, or request to “Keep Me Updated”, you hereby agree to receive email messages with information about both the specific Courses for which you have requested to register or to be kept updated, and to receive email messages with information and updates about future Courseses and other events.
Please note that these email messages are sent by third-party providers with whom we share your email address. When registering for individual Courseses, we ask for your consent to share your email address with third parties. At any time, you can unsubscribe directly from the email message sent, or by sending an opt-out request to our data protection officer at DPO@bioacademy.co.il.
We use service providers and share data with them, including analytics, data hosting, back-up, customer relations, cyber security, mailing and other relevant services, to help us maintain, operate and improve our Websites and Services and to fulfill the purposes of processing personal data, under the applicable law and this privacy policy.
We have contractual commitments from all our vendors who process your personal data on our behalf, that they provide sufficient guarantees for protecting your personal data under applicable data privacy laws.
We will also retain, use and share your personal data as necessary in relation to legal proceedings and disputes and to enforce our Terms of Use, agreements, and policies.
We may report and share your personal data if we believe that we are required to do so by law. We may need to disclose personal data in response to lawful requests by public authorities, such as court orders and warrants, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.
Additionally, we will use and share personal data for the purpose of a merger, acquisition, investment, or any other structural change.
We commit to process personal data solely for the purposes described in this privacy policy. To the extent relevant and possible, we will make efforts to maintain the data accurate, complete, and up-to-date.

Cookies are packets of data sent to your web browser and then sent back by the browser each time it accesses the server that sent the cookie.
Some cookies are removed when you close your browser session. These are the "Session Cookies". Some last for longer periods and are called "Persistent Cookies". We use both Session Cookies and Persistent Cookies to facilitate the use of the data's features and tools.
Every browser allows you to manage your cookies preferences. Please bear in mind that disabling cookies can complicate or even prevent you from using some areas of our Websites or perhaps certain features of our Websites.

Aggregated and Analytical Data
Some data is aggregated and then shared with our marketing partners. This data does not identify you personally as an individual. It contains statistics related to traffic and the geographic location of our customers, but it is not personally identifiable data.
We use analytical tools and share aggregated data with third parties who help us to improve our Websites and Services. The use of aggregated data does not identify individuals and we take considerable precautions to make sure that the data cannot be associated with you.
Choice
At any time, you can unsubscribe from our mailing lists and newsletters directly from the email message sent, or by sending an opt-out request to DPO@bioacademy.co.il. In addition, at any time, you may object to the transfer of your personal data to a third party, other than to third parties who are necessary for us perform tasks as explained above.
You may also object to the processing of your personal data in a materially different manner than the purposes of processing for which your personal data was originally collected, pursuant to this privacy policy, or as subsequently authorized by you.
You may exercise your choice by contacting us at DPO@bioacademy.co.il. We may need to ask you to provide us necessary details to authenticate your identity and to identify data related to you on our systems.
Some web browsers offer a "Do Not Track" ("DNT") signal. A DNT signal is an HTTP header field indicating your preference for tracking your activities on the Websites or through cross-site user tracking. Our Websites do not respond to DNT signals.
Accessing Your Personal Data
At any time, you may contact us at DPO@bioacademy.co.il and request access to the identifiable data that we keep about you. You may also request to correct wrong details about you or delete them.
We may need to ask you to provide us certain credentials to make sure that you are who you claim to be. We may also need to ask you to provide us with necessary details to identify data related to you on our systems.
If we need to delete data following your request, it may take some time until residual copies are deleted from our active servers and from our backup systems.
Please note that the deletion of your personal data from our systems does not include personal data which has already been shared with third parties, as permitted under this privacy policy. We redact from the data which we will make available to you, any personal data related to others.
We can also delete your personal data, by removing any identifying data and transforming personal data that relates to you into anonymized data.
Your California Rights
If you are a California resident who provide personal data in obtaining products or services for personal, family or household use, California Civil Code Section 1798.83 (“Shine the Light Law”) permits you to request in writing and obtain from us, once per calendar year, data about the customer data we shared, if any, with other third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
If applicable, this personal data would include a list of the categories of customer data and the names and addresses of those businesses with which we shared customer data during the preceding calendar year (such as requests made in 2018 will receive data regarding 2017 sharing activities).
To make such a request, please contact us at DPO@bioacademy.co.il and write "Request for California Privacy Data" for the subject of your message. We will send you a reply e-mail within 30 days containing the requested data once we confirm your request.
Please note that not all of the shared data is covered by the Shine the Light Law requirements and therefore only data which is covered will be included in our response.
Your European Union Rights
If the European Union data protection laws apply to the processing of your personal data by Biowise, then the following terms apply-
We process your personal data for the following lawful grounds:
– All processing of your personal data which are not based on the lawful grounds indicated below, are based on your consent.
– We process your account and payment details to perform the contract with you.
– We will process your personal data to comply with legal obligations and to protect your and others' vital interests.
– We will further rely on our legitimate interests, which we have good-faith belief that they are not overridden by your fundamental rights and freedoms, for the following purposes:
- Communications with you, including direct marketing where you are our client, or a user of our client, or where you contact us or show interest in our Services through our Websites and other digital assets.
- Cyber security.
- Support, customer relations, service operations.
- Enhancements and improvements to yours and other users' experience with our Services.
- Fraud detection and misuse of the Service.
In addition to your rights under other sections in this privacy policy, you have the following rights:
- Contact us if you want to withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data. Exercising this right will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
- Request to delete or restrict access to your personal data. We will review your request and use our judgment, pursuant to the provisions of the applicable law, to reach a decision about your request.
- If you exercise one (or more) of the above-mentioned rights, in accordance with the provisions of applicable law, you may request to be informed that third parties that hold your personal data, in accordance with this privacy policy, will act accordingly.
- You may ask to transfer your personal data in accordance with your right to data portability.
- You may object to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes. Additional information about this right is available under the Choice section in this privacy policy.
- You have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produces legal effects concerning you, or similarly significantly affecting you.
- You have a right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority of your habitual residence, place of work or of an alleged infringement of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”).

Note that when you send us a request to exercise your rights, we will need to reasonably authenticate your identity and location. We will ask you to provide us credentials to make sure that you are who you claim to be and will ask you further questions to understand the nature and scope of your request.
If we need to delete your personal data following your request, it will take some time until we completely delete residual copies of your personal data from our active servers and from our backup systems.
We do periodical assessments of our data processing and privacy practices, to make sure that we comply with this privacy policy, to update the privacy policy when we believe that we need to, and to verify that we display the privacy policy properly and in an accessible manner.

Data Retention
We retain data as needed to provide our Services and for legitimate and lawful purposes, as well as pursuant to legal requirements under applicable laws. We will make efforts to guarantee that personal data is kept for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the personal data is processed.
In any case, as long as we use your personal data to provide our Services, we will keep the data about you, unless we are required by applicable laws to delete it, or if we accept your request to delete the data, pursuant to applicable laws, or if we decide to remove it at our sole discretion.
If we retain your personal data for any legitimate business purpose other than to provide the Services, we will make efforts to limit the access to the personal data and the retention time to minimum.
We keep aggregated non-identifiable data without limitation, and to the extent reasonable we will delete or de-identify potentially identifiable data when we no longer need to process the data.
Transfer of Data Outside Your Territory
We store and process data in various sites throughout the globe, including in sites operated and maintained by cloud-based service providers. Currently, we maintain and process data in sites located in the State of Israel and the United States of America.
If we transfer your personal data from the European Union to the United States of America, then our transfer of your personal data to our hosting service is governed by these service providers' adherence to the Privacy Shield Framework. Please read more about the of protection to your personal data under this framework at www.privacyshield.gov.
If you are a resident in a jurisdiction where transfer of your personal data to another jurisdiction requires your consent, then you provide us your express and unambiguous consent to such transfer.
Data Security
We and our hosting services implement systems, applications, and procedures to secure your personal data, to minimize the risks of theft, damage, loss of data, or unauthorized access or use of data.
These measures provide sound industry standard security. However, although we make efforts to protect your privacy, we cannot guarantee that our Websites and Services will be immune from any wrongdoings, malfunctions, unlawful access, or other kinds of abuse and misuse.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
From time to time, we may need to update this privacy policy. If the updates have minor if any consequences, they will take effect 7 days after we post a notice on the Websites. Substantial changes will be effective 30 days after our notice was initially posted.
Until the new privacy policy takes effect, you can choose not to accept it and terminate your use of the Websites. Continuing to use the Websites after the new privacy policy takes effect means that you agree to the new privacy policy.
Note that if we need to adapt this privacy policy to new legal requirements, the new privacy policy will become effective immediately or as required by applicable law.
